Zeus and Hera  1One of the most famous images of mythical infidelity marriage of Zeus and Hera, classic king and queen of the gods. Here we find not only one triangle, but the sequence of one of them, Zeus archetypal serial adulterer, with Hera jealous wife. Their married life catalog Affairs, dressed jealousy, revenge and illegitimate children; but somehow their marriage survives.

Zeus was the king of heaven, and it was he who organized and managed the smooth and accurate design space. He married his sister Hera after a very romantic courtship, and it seemed that he was crazy about her. But from the beginning of marriage, he cheated on her, and she was hurt and violently jealous. They argued constantly, and Zeus was not averse to sometimes beat her to silence her protests and accusations. Hera was angry his constant pursuit of other lovers — goddesses and mortal women and boys. Constantly changing objects of their desires always requires great ingenuity and effort to pursue. In fact, the more complex the task, the more his passion; and he often had to shape-Shift — in various guises and animal forms — to slip by angry husbands and fathers possessive. For Leda, he turned himself into a swan; for Europe, the bull; to Demeter, the stallion; and Dana, a shower of gold. Sometimes in sandplay therapy we come very close to the spiritual dimension of our life. A 9 years old girl began her first sandplay with shaping of a river; she put a rainbow in the tray connecting both sides of the river, and asked me: Do you believe in God?

The troubled water stood for the troubles between her parents and their split, the rainbow as an archetypal symbol for reconciliation and hope. The gifted girl used the sandplay as a vessel for her innermost concern and found in a short second an astonishingly precise symbolic expression. I?ll talk about the special and often surprising power of sandplay as a medium for symbolization and transformation. Sometimes the transformative energy seems to emerge from deep within. The question may arise: What is the faith of the therapist?

Upon hearing the title of the Conference «Borderlands, historical and cultural», we were immediately gripped by it. Borderland is usualy defined as «district near a border» or «an area of overlap between two things» and we were both of oppinion borderland could be easily used as the second name or a nick name of our native, home town Belgrade, capital and the largest city of Serbia. Belgrade’s geographical and historical position predestined its borderline or liminal fate and determined its Soul-making, since it is a city full of contradictions, difficulties, positive and negative surprises and peculiar ways of being and surviving. Both of us are very well aware that to know Belgrade in all its complexity, to come close to its richly textured, historically multilayered aspects of its Soul would require a long life spent in detailed observation and investigation. The focus of our interest is limited to what is liminal in Belgrade’s Soul and identity and how this liminality has been created through history.

Not to idealize, neither to diminish

C. G. Jung in the 1930s – it’s a key theme for analytical psychology. I would like to mention a few aspects that I believe are important if one wants to reach a closer, more objective view of Jung during this dark and difficult time. But first, a preliminary observation.

Jung’s confession that he “slipped up” is well known and often quoted. In 1945 Jung sought out Leo Baeck in his Zurich hotel and talked with him. Aniela Jaff? later spoke of “a shadow of Jung’s,” which she said had become mixed up in his political attitude. His error, she said, was “dass er mehr h?tte schweigen sollen” (Jaff? 1968, p. 85). Her phrase could mean that Jung “should have been more discreet,” or even that he “should have kept quiet more often.”
